The Crowood Press Mercedes Benz Saloons: The Classic Models of the 1960s and 1970s

The saloon cars produced by Mercedes-Benz during the 1960s and '70s were hailed in their day for their sophistication and quality and the intervening years have taken away little of that respect. Many of the rugged cars from the seventies are still in regular use, while the cars from the swinging sixties are increasingly regarded as style icons - the perfect chic transport for artists and celebrities. The author takes a sideways look at these impressive cars, intertwining history, technical detail and anecdote. Including discussion of the saloon-based cabriolets and diesels from this era, this is a book to be welcomed by any Mercedes fan.Hardcover - 7-1/2' x 9-1/2' - 192 pages - 140 b/w

Matchless: The Complete Story - Mick Walker. Matchless was one of the true pioneer motorcycle manufacturers. Their first machine was manufactured in London in 1899, and the company really came to prominence in 1907 with victory in the single-cylinder class of the first Isle of Man TT. Over the next seventy years, Matchless produced many distinguished bikes, from singles to magnificent four-cylinder machines. In 1931 Matchless acquired the ailing AJS concern, and the two companies were merged to form AMC - Associated Motorcycles. From then on Matchless and AJS machines became increasingly similar, and for a long time the machines of each mark were practically identical. Mick Walker's history of this famous marque takes in every machine and also looks at the competition fortunes of the company. Well illustrated with archive photographs, this book is a worthy tribute to this famous London manufacturer.Hardcover - 8' x 10' - 216 pp - 20 color, 20 b/w
